There are two types of beauty products that I always love buying no matter how much of them I have: mascara and lip gloss (or balms). I was browsing through Nordstrom’s website I noticed that there were a ton of new lip products and three of them instantly caught my eye!
Clinique Pop Lip Shadow
The first item is the Clinique Pop Lip Shadow ($19.50 / .04 oz). It’s a cushion matte lip powder that comes with a sponge and a separate tube that you put the applicator in and it grabs the product. Than you apply it to your lips. I think this is such a cool product, but I wasn’t sure at first. My main concern was whether or not product would apply evenly. With a little bit if practice, I got it to work and apply perfectly. I went with the shade 03 Crimson Pop, which is a nice neutral red. It’s great for everyday wear or when you’re going out. It’s definitely matte, and I applied a balm over to keep my lips hydrated. This is an interesting product, and I definitely want to try some of the other shades. I have a feeling people will either really like this or absolutely hate it.
Chantecaille Lip Sleek in Grenadine
I went and splurged and picked up the Chantecaille Lip Sleek in Grenadine ($38 / .05 oz). This is a really sleek hydrating, oil based lipstick that nourishes your lips while adding a nice pop of color. I love the color! It’s definitely a red, but more of a pink, cherry red. I absolutely love it. There’s one major downside, and that’s with the packaging. The bottom has a part that you press down and the product clicks up. It’s nice, however, the product doesn’t come back down. So if you click too much you could end up breaking the product when you put the cap on. Definitely something to keep in mind. The formula is really nice. It goes on smoothly, it’s nicely pigmented, my lips felt moisturized, basically I really like this product. You can definitely find something similar for a more affordable price, but this is a luxury brand. I will say though, with Chantecaille, you’re paying more, but the quality is there. Unlike other luxury brands.
NARS x Charlotte Gainsbourg Lip Tint
Last is the NARS x Charlotte Gainsbourg Lip Tint in 5950 Ephelide ($26 / .17 oz). This color is absolutely perfect for me! It’s nothing special, but the perfect everyday color. It’s a lip tint, but still has more pigmentation than I expected. It went on smoothly and felt really nice on the lips. It lasted a good couple of hours before I had to re-apply, the same for the other two lip products. This was the better option for how much you’re getting for the price, and it’s probably my favorite of the three. I’m debating if I want to get the other colors now or wait until the Makeup Show Chicago in June.
Overall, I’m really enjoying the new lip products! Lip balms, and glosses are my weakness and I’m always buying some to try out and see if I find any new favorites. I don’t want to jinx it just yet, but I’m think that could be the NARS Lip Tint.
Have you tried any of these products? Any new lip products I should test out? Let me know in the comments!
